Aussies
Aussies
The new popularity of the Aussie concerns us. The typical Aussie is not the typical family pet. We strive in our breeding program to preserve the instincts that are inherent in a well bred working Australian Shepherd. Thus, our dogs have a strong desire to work and to please. They also possess the strong herding and protective instincts required of a typical working Aussie. These qualities with the proper guidance and necessary energy outlets result in a wonderful, extremely intelligence companion. On the other hand, dogs with such a strong need to work and such amazing intelligence can if left to their own devices become a nightmare pet.
An Aussie MUST be SOCIALIZED with people, animals, situations-- basically you take your puppy everywhere!
An Aussie MUST be OBEDIENCE TRAINED!
An Aussie MUST be EXERCISED - MIND and BODY!
We are not attempting to scare anyone away from our beloved breed, but we want to ensure our pups go to families where they can develop to their full potential.
We strive to produce dogs with the minds and bodies to do it all! Our guys love herding (ducks, sheep, cattle and the occasional cat or horse if nobody is looking!). We have at different times been active in herding, obedience, conformation, agility, fly ball, scent work, search and rescue, and hospital visitation programs. For fun we play frisbee, go hiking, go canoeing and go wilderness camping. We are now trying to learn how to dog sled! So we pray for heavy snow each winter. Most of all they are part of our family and love to just hang out!
