HistoryThe Ottawa Puppetry Club was founded February 27, 1997 by puppeteer Sarah Noelle Shepard (formerly Sarah Noelle Chrisman). The first meetings were held at puppteer's homes, and later on at the Canadian Martyrs Church Parish Centre. In January 1999, OPC members held their first meeting in their present location at the McNabb Recreation Centre, 180 Percy Street.In 2007 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary by mounting a special Ottawa Puppetry Club display for the Puppets Up International Festival held annualy in Almonte, Ontario. Some have gone on to form their own puppetry companies, while others have been with OPC from the very start. Here are a few such members, while others are found thoughout our web site... Anne Fairlie and Anne Gorman of Razz-Ma-Tazz perform in the annual show in 2000. Sharon Wuepplemann performs one of her puppets using a monitor during a workshop with television puppeteer Bob Stutt. She performed as half of the Pegaron Puppetry troupe for six years and is a Past Secretary of the OPC.
